Assignment 5 of 6

Personal branding

What makes me different as a marketing manager: my values, my drive, and what I do that others don't.

In progressSep to Dec 2026

The class on personal branding is in week 2.3, but the brand already exists: Broersmarketing. This page is the first version.

The brief

What makes me unique as a marketing manager? Work out my core values, my motivation and what sets me apart, in a form of my choice. Link it to at least two skills and reflect on what it shows about my strengths, ambition and development.

  • Core values, motivation and distinctiveness
  • A form of my choice: this page, plus a short pitch video
  • Linked to at least two skills
  • Reflection on strengths, ambition and development

My approach

  1. 1

    Start from what already exists

Broersmarketing already has a voice, a look and a story. My personal brand is not a second brand. It is the person behind that one.

  2. 2

    Write it as a canvas

Three words, three values, one motivation, one thing that sets me apart, and the proof. Everything on the canvas below points at something real.

  3. 3

    Say it in sixty seconds

An elevator pitch on video, recorded in one take. If I need a script, the canvas is not clear enough yet.

  4. 4

    Test it on two people

Two classmates watch the pitch and read the canvas. I ask one question: does this sound like me? What they change is the reflection.

The canvas

Robin Broers

Warm. Honest. Sharp.

The three words behind Broersmarketing. They are also the three words I would want a teammate to use about me.

Say it straight

I won't pretend I have twenty years behind me. I don't. I tell people what I can build and what I can't, and I would rather lose a job than oversell one.

Build first, then talk

It started on YouTube. I watched people build websites and AI tools and thought: I can do that myself. So I did. A working thing beats a plan for a thing.

Show up

Four to five training sessions a week got me to 120 kg on the bench press. The number is nice. The habit of showing up when I don't feel like it is the real result.

What drives me

I wanted to help people and businesses long before I knew how. AI automation turned out to be the how: I build something, and someone's day gets easier. That feeling is the whole reason.

What sets me apart

Most marketing students can write a plan. I can also build the tool and put it live: a dashboard, an automation, a website. Broersmarketing sells exactly that, and it is what I bring to a project group.

The proof

  • broersmarketing.com

My studio site, live and bilingual

  • Personal dashboard

Garmin data, investments, to-dos and calendar in one app

  • YouTube to Telegram

Every morning at 7:30, the top 5 videos on AI and investing on my phone

  • Four Anthropic certificates

Claude 101, Claude Code 101, Claude Cowork, AI Fluency

Evidence

2 of 4 added

  1. The branding canvas (added)

Three words, three values, motivation, distinctiveness and proof. On this page.

  2. broersmarketing.com (added)

The studio site: the brand in practice.

  3. Elevator pitch on video (to add)

    Sixty seconds, one take.

    Expected after week 2.3
  4. Feedback from two classmates (to add)

Does this sound like me? Their answers, and what I changed.

    Expected after the pitch

Reflection

Reflection tool: What? So what? Now what?

Written after the pitch and the feedback.

Three questions, because a brand is a claim and the reflection checks it.

  1. 1What? What does the canvas show about my strengths, and what did the two classmates not recognise?
  2. 2So what? Where is the gap between how I want to be seen and how I come across?
  3. 3Now what? Which part of the brand do I need to earn next, and how?
